End of Term Pool Party brings Port Lincoln together

When the final bell rang on Term 1, Port Lincoln Leisure Centre had something special waiting for the community.

YMCA SA partnered with the City of Port Lincoln to host the centre's first End of Term Pool Party for 2026, coinciding with Youth Week. The event was free to attend, with the City of Port Lincoln sponsoring 150 community tickets; covering pool access, the waterslide, a new inflatable Wobble Run, and a sausage sizzle to wrap up the night.

The goal was straightforward: remove the cost barrier and give young people a safe, active, and social way to mark the end of the term. For YMCA SA, this is the mission in practice: ensuring young people can participate, connect, and belong, regardless of their circumstances.

The event reached full capacity and delivered on that goal. Young people filled the centre with energy throughout the afternoon, taking on the Wobble Run, connecting with friends, and making the most of the facilities in a relaxed, inclusive environment. The Wobble Run, new to the centre this year, quickly became the standout attraction, with only a handful of participants managing to make it to the end.

It was great to have Tasmin Davies, Youth Coordinator from the City of Port Lincoln's Community Culture and Recreation team attend on the day and engage with participants and staff. Centre Manager Nathan Reichstein reflected on what the partnership made possible.

"We were delighted to partner with the City of Port Lincoln to deliver an inclusive event for young people across the region. The collaboration allowed us to make the event accessible to all by removing the cost barrier and creating a fun, safe space for young people and families to connect."

The Wobble Run will return during the school holidays, giving more families a chance to take on the challenge.
